COMMUNIQUÉ NUMBER 3 SEWAGE AND AQUEDUCT SYSTEM WITH FIRE PROTECTION - PHASE 1 PROJECT UPDATE Sintra resumed work on the project February 2nd, 2011 and will continue until the end of the year. Sintra expects to employ at least two (2) work teams throughout the project in order to complete the work within the allotted time frame. PROPOSED WORK SCHEDULE February 2011: Installation of the water main from Ville de Châteauguay to rue du Parc-Woodland.. February - June 2011: Installation of systems (water, sewer) on the streets south of boulevard de Léry, starting at rue du Parc-Woodland to rue Paul. March - May 2011: Boring under the railroad tracks and boulevard de Léry (Route 132 intersection, rue de l’Hôtel-de-ville, rue de la Gare, rue du Parc-Tisseur and rue Paul). April - October 2011: Installation of systems (water, sewer) on chemin du Lac Saint-Louis as well as certain private roads and rights of way. NATURE OF THE WORK TO BE DONE ON VARIOUS STREETS Ø TREE PRUNING: Necessary in some locations to allow machinery to pass without causing permanent damage to trees. Ville de Léry will coordinate with a tree pruning service for those work areas affected. Ø SURVEYING: The surveyor will stake the rights of way limits of Ville de Léry`s streets to ensure that the contractor digs within the town’s streets and not on private property. Ø LOCATION OF CONNECTIONS: Before installing the stakes facing residences, property owners are to indicate the desired entry point of their water and sewer services (a letter from Genivar has been/will be distributed when a decision is required). Ø BLASTING: A representative from Dyfotech will distribute a leaflet to every residence explaining the required blasting work and answer questions from residents. Ø SERVICES: Installation of water and sewer mains, entry point connections, fire hydrants, etc. Ø ACCESS TO ROADS/HOUSES: During construction, only local traffic will be allowed. The excavation at a residence may take two (2) days and you may be required to park your vehicle at a designated parking area. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Ø STUDENT TRANSPORTATION: School bus carriers have been notified, however, the work may create minor delays. Ø MAIL SERVICE: Canada Post will install mailboxes at Town Hall for residents affected by the work. When informed, a resident will need to contact the local postal station at (450) 225-1065 in order to obtain their mailbox number. It is a resident’s responsibility to obtain a suitable padlock for their temporary mailbox. Once a street is again fully accessible, regular mail delivery service will resume. Ø WASTE COLLECTION: The garbage and recycling collection service will be maintained as usual. As noted last November, more precise notices will be distributed periodically to affected residents as work progresses on their street. Rest assured that we are making every effort to ensure that the work causes the least amount of inconvenience to residents. If you have any questions, comments or complaints, please contact Town Hall at (450) 692-6861 and we will ensure that they are directed to the appropriate person(s). Ville de Léry February 2011
